Pilgway has begun shipping 3D-Coat 4.0, a sizeable – and long-awaited – update to its voxel sculpting and retopology tool. New features include Live Clay, a dynamic mesh density system similar to ZBrush’s DynaMesh; the power to paint directly onto a sculpted mesh; and new Voxel Extrude, spline drawing and Magic Wand tools.
3D-Coat 4.0 is available now for Windows 2000 or above, Mac OS X 10.4.5 or above, or Linux. Pilgway has extended its pre-release offer, making version 4.0 available at the old 3.x price of $349 for a full licence, but says that this will expire on 1 July. There’s no word on what the price will be afterwards.
