Digital-Tutors announce that they’ve opened up two 3ds Max tutorials to watch for free to watch for free in conjunction with 3D World’s Advent promotion. This daily free giveaway has featured some of Beginner’s Guides courses, but this weekend they’re opening up nearly four free hours of free 3ds Max Training with two tutorials covering modeling and texturing game props. The free tutorials will be available for subscribers only on Monday, so make sure to watch them this weekend.

Your challenge is to design your own pet monster – whether it’s an adorable companion or a fearsome crittter, use your imagination to create the pet you wish you had. Use any tools you like to design – 3ds Max, Blender, Maya, modo, Rhino, SketchUp or ZBrush, for example. The goal is to generate a manifold (watertight) mesh model (STL file) that can be printed on a MakerBot.
