Thailand floods disrupt hard disk production

Sustained monsoon rain has led to unusually heavy flooding in Thailand; a situation which is likely to have a major impact on the worldwide supply of hard disks. The country, which is the world’s second largest hard disk exporter, plays home to many manufacturing plants belonging to the world’s biggest storage companies.

Western Digital Corp. the world’s largest HDD manufacturer in terms of volume, has 37,000 workers in Thailand, and production in the country accounts for 60 percent of the company’s total capacity. Toshiba employs about 3,900 workers in Thailand, and approximately 50 percent of the company’s manufacturing capacity is in the country.

The team behind indie sci-fi movie Project London has released some of the 3D assets used in the film for free. The download comprises six vehicles and mech suits from different artists, all fully rigged in Blender 2.4.8, and are available under a Creative Commons licence. It means you can use these rigs in any project you want as long as you apply the same Creative Commons License to your work and give us credit for our contribution. 99frames - Animation Competition

MAXON supports animation competition that's all about the new features in CINEMA 4D R13. Each who wants to enter to this contest, has to create a 99 frames animation. Everyone can and should be inspired to take part using the new features of CINEMA 4D R13 to create their own breathtaking animation. After the contest has ended, all 99frames animations will be composited to make up a large clip with a fitting, specially composed soundtrack that will be made available to the global community. 

New training at Gnomon workshop The Art of PULSE
