Autodesk has released a free video effects app for Mac OS X Lion. Motion FX builds on the company’s Maya Fluids technology. It combines the system with a live video feed, enabling users to control the effects or warp the picture in real time. The app enables users to create smoke, fire and a variety of other fluid effects that react to real-time movements captured on the Mac FaceTime camera.
Autodesk has acquired “certain technology-related assets” from Numenus, developer of specialist NURBS rendering software RenderGin. As a result of the acquisition, Autodesk software users should gain more accurate visualization of surfaces and spend less time preparing quality visualization data. Thhis also reflects Autodesk’s continuing commitment to provide a comprehensive Digital Prototyping solution to manufacturers of all sizes, giving them the ability to design, visualize and simulate their products before they are built.

MoI is for polygon-based artist featuring very intuitive user interface and powerful tools which improve the use workflow. The software is according to Michael perfect for anyone who is frustrated of the complexity of the modern CAD tools. MoI have a lot of features like compatibility with pen tablet, displaying of anti-aliased curves and much more.
PD Artist 2 is PD Howler (PD Pro 6), but without the animation tools. The result: a lean, mean painting machine! It is built on the same howling-fast core engine as the one used in PD Pro 6 (AKA PD Howler) and thus benefits from interface improvements, multithreading, SSE2, speed enhancements and other optimizations. Some animated filters were removed. Some filters that had animation options were modified to exclude the animated portion.
