Substance Designer is the only software solution on the market dedicated directly to texturing, allowing the creation of high quality maps using multi-channel, non-linear and non-destructive workflow. Recently Allegorithmic released a new version of Substance Designer 2.5 moving the 3D pipeline a bit forward. The new version is featuring a lot of enhancements and bug fixes such as the handling of FX-Maps by a new substance engine and much more.
Furthermore, Allegortihmic started from March 1st to March 20th a GDC12 special offer in a form of a bundle including; Substance Designer 2.5, Bitmap2Material and 250 *.sbs source files for a price of 690$ instead of 1600$.
Enhancements
- Link/Import mesh as a resource in sbs. These mesh can be displayed in the 3D view and used to extract information.
- New mesh information extraction feature. This information can be exported into bitmaps or svg and used in substance graphs. The following maps can be extracted:
- Ambient occlusion (depending on the GPU)
- World space normal
- Curvature
- UV to Svg mask
- Parametrization for FX-Maps is handled by the new substance engine

Bug Fixes
- 2D view pan and zoom aren't reset anymore when we tweak a parameter in the graph
- 2D view isn't reset anymore each time we display a new image in it
- We can now display and manipulate svg with boolean shapes
