The Foundry released new update of MARI. MARI is a production proven 3D digital paint tool, designed from the ground up to let you spend more time being creative and less time managing technical issues. Not only is MARI capable of handling super high-resolution textures and millions of polygons, it is open, scriptable and interacts well with other VFX tools and Photoshop, letting you work the way you want to.
MARI 1.6 brings a new, and unique, toolkit for creating direction based effects directly on the geometry.

Bitmap2Material, which is compatible with 3ds Max, Maya, Flame and Unity, generates seamlessly tiling textures from source photographs, automatically extracts common texture map types, and generates random texture variations.
The Blender Foundation has released Blender 2.65. Headline feature this time out is fire simulation, along with other improvements to the smoke simulation system, including a new flow force field, mixing options and support for interactions with collision objects.
