Software developer WTools3D has released the latest version of its modelling plug-in for LightWave. New release includes some impressive new features e.g. Shingles - new automatic tool for placing customized shingle set on custom roofs, AreaVolume - new command for quick area and volume calculation and complete set of shingle types, regular, slope, barge, top and connectors. This update also brings many enhancements. It contains improved system of adding intervals, Radial Clone - new source pivot option in numeric panel and Vector Clone - new side option, LIB objects can be aligned to left,right or center. In this version you can also find completely updated algorithm, faster and cleaner results.
Autodesk announced the 2013 versions of its Digital Entertainment Creation (DEC) software and suites. The new releases improve consistency and interoperability between applications, making it even easier for artists to take advantage of powerful new and enhanced creative features. Autodesk extended its suites offering with the new Autodesk Entertainment Creation Suite Ultimate edition. This suite contains both Autodesk 3ds Max 2013 and Autodesk Maya 2013 animation software, together with Autodesk Softimage 2013 3D animation and visual effects software, Autodesk Mudbox 2013 3D sculpting and painting software and Autodesk MotionBuilder 2013 real-time virtual production and motion capture editing software.
Late in 2011, The DAVE School's Executive Director, Steve Warner, gave his signature Lighting and Rendering lecture to the students at the school. Now DAVE School offers whole two 5 hour lecture to see for all visitors and 3D modelling fans. They started to post the entire series in hour-long instalments. Today they are posting the first segment which examines the material properties found in most 3D programs and explains how to translate the characteristics you see in the real world into recognizable surfaces in the 3D world. Mr Warner covers the basics of 3D material properties and how to translate what you see in the real world in to parameters you can use in your 3D software.
