Luxology Ships Power SubD-NURBS for modo

modo

Luxology® LLC today announced the immediate availability of Power SubD-NURBS for modo®, a plug-in that allows designers to automatically convert Subdivision surface meshes into NURBS-based CAD formats that can be exported directly to standard CAD systems.

Power SubD-NURBS bridges the worlds of highly flexible Subdivision surface modeling and CAD-accurate NURBS representations. With this new plug-in for modo, industrial designers in the early stages of the design process can quickly create concept models that can be exported and refined within the users’ CAD systems. The plug-in exports IGES, SAT, STEP, and Rhino file formats for compatibility with leading CAD packages. Additionally, modo materials assigned by the designer can be used to derive surface boundaries in the resulting file for maximum control.

LuxRender 1.0 is out

rendererLuxRender is a physically based and unbiased rendering engine. Based on state of the art algorithms, LuxRender simulates the flow of light according to physical equations, thus producing realistic images of photographic quality. LuxRender you can use like a standalone software and also as a scene export plugin for 3D modeling software, e.g. 3ds Max, Cinema 4D, Blender, Softimage and others. The current version is still officially a release candidate, but according to a posting on the LuxRender forum, “we decided to jump the version number to 1.0 to emphasize the fact that LuxRender is a production-ready application, as is constantly demonstrated by the various artists using it”.

Di-O-Matic released Maskarad v.1.3

modelingMaskarad allows an automatic markerless facial performance capture. If you are creating games or producing a movie, this application lets you easily create expressive, realistic facial animations from video. Maskarad autotmaticly converts the detials of the actor to animation data and this can be used in your favorite 3D program, like 3dsmax, Lightwave, maya, Softimage and MotionBuilder. Maskarad uses state-of-the-art technology to automatically locate and track head motion as well as facial expressions and precise lips movements. All you need is a simple video file featuring an actor performance.
